Artist Statement
As a toddler, I spent a lot of my time playing alone so I made up imaginary friends. These creatures, animals, and humans only I could see were my entertainment. They accompanied me on many adventures in lands that I dreamed up. Soon that was no longer enough for my creative mind. So, I did what most kids would do. I made a wish.
At four years old, I wished on a star for a someone who could be my sidekick on all these amazing adventures into this imaginary land I created.  I asked my parents to have another baby and they were against it. They told me that my three teenage sisters were enough. I was still determined, I asked them every day, I wished on more stars, and I prayed hard. By the time I was five my dream had Come true. When my little sister could crawl, we started going on all my adventures together. She created new imaginary friends and lands for us to explore. Throughout the years we created storylines for our toys, shared short stories that we wrote for fun, and provided years of entertainment for our household.
All those creative play moments fueled my passion for art. Now that I’m older I realized that most of my animation ideas were inspired by children in my life. I always try to stay in tune with my inner child when I look for creative ideas. Without the memories of what it’s like to be a child I wouldn’t be able to put beautiful color schemes together and find bold fonts that go with them or be able to manipulate a drawing to bring it to life in an animation.
